{"id":291,"date":"2003-10-07T00:09:46","date_gmt":"2003-10-07T05:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonmorrison.net\/content\/?p=291"},"modified":"2008-08-22T00:11:54","modified_gmt":"2008-08-22T05:11:54","slug":"weekly-listserv-journal-blogging-vs-journalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.jasonmorrison.net\/content\/2003\/weekly-listserv-journal-blogging-vs-journalism\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly listserv journal &#8211; blogging vs. journalism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>As part of a class project I\u2019ve been reading the <a href=\"http:\/\/talk.poynter.org\/cgi-bin\/lyris.pl?enter=online-news&amp;text_mode=0&amp;lang=english\">Online-News mailing list<\/a> and responding to some of the issues and discussion brought up there. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> Normal   0 <\/xml><![endif]--><!--  --><\/p>\n<p>One of the topics that comes up a lot here is blogging versus journalism.\u00a0 Someone brought up an interesting project where a reporter was doing live coverage of a trial with in a blog-like way.\u00a0 A big part of this is how so many relatively inexpensive portable computers, PDAs, etc. are around.\u00a0 A number of posters noted that it seems like the bloggers are not the ones starting the debate, and that they seem to be a pretty inclusive group.\u00a0 Others pointed out that blogging is a buzzword and not yet proven; news on the internet is only about 10 years old so its hardly a mature medium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of a class project I\u2019ve been reading the Online-News mailing list and responding to some of the issues and discussion brought up there.
